Ever since I moved to Columbia from North Carolina in 1999, I’ve been enamored by the Saluda River. Running through the heart of Columbia, the Saluda River brings beauty and recreation to our great city! My husband and I have been fishing, kayaking, tubing and rock hopping along the river for years. I’ve always heard about a race where they raise the water and kayak down the Mill Race rapids near the zoo but I’ve never been able to catch it…until this year. I don’t have anywhere near the skill needed to navigate these class 4 rapids but I had a blast taking photos of it! Enjoy a few of the highlights of the Iceman Challenge & Millrace Massacre races below. Now, if only I can turn this new hobby into an adventure engagement shoot…hehe!
