Some time love sneaks up on you.  Wesley & Terra’s relationship started with a blind date at Rush’s (a local burger and fries fast food restaurant).  They found they had a lot of common interests, such as a love of the outdoors.  In Terra’s words,

After sitting there for 2 hours, it felt like we had known each other our whole lives. We went on a second date that night, and have been inseparable since then. Wesley proposed at his house, in front of immediate family.

I had a list of requirements I wanted for when that special day finally came. I asked Wesley to make sure that it was in front of our family, that there was somebody there with a camera to capture the moment, a place that would always be special to us, and not around any holidays. So we had planned a gathering at Wesley’s house for his birthday, and both of our parents were there. So after the meal, Wesley revealed to me the real reason why everybody was there, by asking me to marry him. Of course I said Yes!

The ceremony was held at the Millstone at Adam’s Pond.  Sadly, the dam that held the pond itself suffered some damage from the severe flooding that Columbia experienced in October 2015, but Adam’s Pond is still an amazing venue.  Since the couple loves spending time outdoors hunting, fishing and going to the lake their wedding theme included lots of outdoorsy, country touches, like boots, burlap and pearls & wood on the table centerpieces.

Since Terra & Wesley decided to do a first look, we were able to do tons of fun photos with the bridal party and family in the pecan orchard at Adam’s Pond without taking time away from the bride and groom enjoying their reception with their guests.

I asked Terra what the best part of the whole wedding was and she said,

Best part of the day was seeing Wesley for the first time before we walked down the aisle. I will always recommend a first look to anybody!

The ceremony was held in front of the house.  The couple went down the aisle at the end of the ceremony to the guests waving colored streamers.  I thought that was a really fun touch!

The reception was held in the back of the house.  The clear tent with tea lights was a perfect choice for this evening reception so the guests could enjoy watching the sun set through the Spanish moss on the trees near the creek that surrounded the party.

What was the most fun part about planning the wedding?

I love planning, and have enjoyed the process! I have made most of my own decorations, and planned my entire wedding myself.  Wesley and I are both organized, and that helped tremendously in planning. I am more of a planner, where he is more go with the flow. So it was fun balancing out our two personalities in planning. For me the planning was great, but I’m very detail oriented and I could give attention to every little detail. Wesley’s favorite part was of course the cake tasting, and picking out the food. Wesley also through in his creativeness with the idea of the canoe bar.

The canoe bar was one of my personal favorite details too!

During the reception, we had some fun playing with sparklers before the couple left for their grand exit.  The couple left in a surprise limo which was a gift from one of their guests!
