Chris and Lauren’s is a love story that’s been in the making for 10 years- starting out all the way back in middle school! Here’s Lauren’s story about how they met and grew up together.
Christopher and I have known each other for 10 years since we were 11 and 12 years old. We used to be neighbors when we were growing up in Indiana and went to the same Catholic middle school together. Christopher used to knock on my front door everyday after school asking if my younger brother, who was 5 years old then, could come outside and play football or basketball with him. I used to follow Matt outside to hang out with him and Chris. It slowly turned into Chris just coming over to play knockout basketball and ride bikes with just me. Me and Chris were riding bikes together one day after school when he told me that he liked me and if I liked him! We had middle school crushes on one another even after my family moved to Texas a year after Chris told me he liked me. We continued being pen pals, and talking to each other on the phone each night. When we both got into high school we would fly back and forth to see each other for birthdays and homecomings & proms.
These two had a long distance relationship for a year after high school until Lauren joined Chris at Louisiana Tech University.
Long distance definitely was a major part of our relationship but after 10 years together, 6 1/2 years which have been long distance, we can finally say we made it! “Distance is just a test to see how far love can travel”.
Fast forward to Chris & Lauren’s 9:00am wedding at our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Chapin, SC.
The bride started hair and makeup at 4:30am for this morning ceremony. Sometimes guys don’t know how easy they have it- hehe!
Lauren, her mom and Grandma made all the flower decorations themselves- talk about a talented family! The pastel flower girl bouquets were adorable and perfectly matched the rose colored accents on their dresses. The skirts of the flower girl dresses even had little flower petals in the tulle at the bottom.
You can’t have long flowing dresses without giving it a twirl once in a while!
I love the giant smiles on their faces as they walk down the aisle together!
After the ceremony, we took a few portraits around the church grounds.
The morning reception was held at the lovely River Road and Jasmine House. The rustic elegance of the venue perfectly matched Lauren’s vision for the wedding decor. I couldn’t help but to grab them for a few extra portraits around the house before the party got started!
Lauren’s veil glowed when it caught the sunlight!
This is one of my favorite photos because I think it really captures their sweet, fun-loving personalities!
As I mentioned in Lauren’s bridal portrait, she made this amazing brooch bouquet herself. She added a few little memory charms so that their relatives that have passed away can still be with them on the wedding day. The cake, done by the River Road and Jasmine House, was beautiful and delicious!
The daylight coming through the tent created great natural light for the first dances. Mike of Bridal DJ’s kept everyone dancing and have fun.
The grits are the perfect Southern wedding favor and the customized bags were an adorable personalized touch!
I hope these two have an amazing honeymoon in St Lucia!
