More than once on Corina & David’s wedding day, I heard the words “my best friend” when the bride and groom talk about each other. Corina & David became friends in 2006 while David was at school at Winthrop and Corina would travel to Rock Hill to visit her best friend, Laura. When Corina started school at Winthrop too, her and David spent more time together. In Corina’s words,
I always knew he had a crush on me, but he was always just my best friend Dave. He stayed in the friend zone for quite some time- lol. David always remained one of my closest friends, but we both went our separate ways from Winthrop and didn’t really see each other for a few years until I moved to Atlanta in 2013. We started catching up again and rekindled our friendship. After my grandmother and a mutual friend of ours, Patrick Allen, passed away in 2014 we became closer than we ever had and I began to seriously think about the “what if” part of our friendship. In August of 2015, at a friend’s wedding, David and I were cornered by our closest friends into dating for the first time after all these years.
The two grew closer and closer as the years went by. Corina describes the night that they became engaged-
David proposed at his mother’s house in Columbia. He decorated the entire back yard in white lights and candles. It was very romantic and I was totally surprised!
We started the wedding day with Corina & David getting ready at the Capital City Club.
David’s mother helped Corina put on the same veil that she wore in her own wedding. It was a emotional moment for everyone.
One of the great parts about choosing the Capital City Club as a wedding venue is that the SC State House grounds are right across the street so we brought the bridal party over there before the ceremony for a few fun photos.
Corina wanted to do a first look with her Dad so we set that up outside the BB&T building so that she could make a grand entrance. Her Dad’s reaction is so sweet!
Corina can’t help it, she’s a natural model! Look at those poses!
We had just a short wait while the guests arrived before ceremony time!
The ceremony took place in the corner room of the Capital City Club and was officiated by Reverend Kevin Roberts of VOW.
The bridal party came down to the BB&T building lobby to grab some fun photos. They really got into the “do your own thing” pose!
We took a few quick minutes to grab some photos of Corina & David on the State House grounds before the reception began. I love how the sun looks coming through the trees at the State House.
Sunsets don’t get any prettier than up at the Capital City Club. I love the cute penguin cake topper that Corina found on etsy!
Kevin Snow of Events by Snow kept the reception music going because this was a dancing crowd!
I hope Corina and David have an amazing honeymoon in Mexico and in Corina’s words-
We are best friends who have found true love and I guess the rest is history…
