I had been looking forward to doing engagement photos for my friends, Kelly and Dan, for so many reasons- one, they’re such beautiful people inside and out; two, because they’re so much fun to hang out with and so in love; and three because they had a seriously great idea to take some of their portraits at the place they met and dated, Carolina Ale House in Harbison. Here’s a little from the story of how they met as Kelly tells it,
My roommate at the time, Crystle was dating a guy, and I met this guy’s brother, Denny and his wife a few times. I stopped at Ale House in Harbison for happy hour after a rough work day and saw Denny, and he introduced me to his buddy, Dan. We talked and joked about absolutely nothing. It turned my bad day right around! I found myself going to Ale House after work more often over the next few weeks, and he’d always be there with a smile and loud laugh! We finally exchanged Facebook info and phone numbers. For two weeks, Dan asked to take me to dinner. For weeks, I denied with answers like “I don’t like relationships”, “What happens if it doesn’t work out?” “I’m nervous”, etc.. Finally one morning Dan called me on his way to a Camping World tradeshow in Savannah. He said “When I get back from this show, we’re going to dinner! It’s JUST dinner!” I laughed and agreed, what did I have to lose? I knew I’d have a good time, the guy is a hoot! I was so nervous for our date, it was on a Wednesday. I hurried home from work to get ready. He was taking me to Motor Supply. I was excited to go, but didn’t know if I could eat with all the butterflies in my stomach. He arrived at my door with flowers and a smile. He had already been in cahoots with my best friend Chelsea about what flowers to get! Sneaky guy! I knew that night that he was a special person. He was someone I wanted to be around because he made me feel so happy. We haven’t stopped laughing since. And those butterflies have made a permanent home in my stomach!
Special thanks to Carolina Ale House for letting us borrow their patio bar area!
Our next stop was Riverwalk park. I love the rustic/industrial look of the mill.
Congratulations Kelly & Dan and I can’t wait until the wedding!
