Melissa and Ryan’s wedding day was a little bit different schedule than what I’m used to but it worked out great for photo opportunities!  The couple’s home church, Our Lady of the Hills Catholic church off Bush River Road had openings for an early afternoon ceremony, since they have Saturday afternoon mass.  But the reception venue, the South Carolina State Museum allowed for a later evening reception since they had guests in the museum until 6pm, which meant we had about a 2-3 hour gap between the ceremony and the start of the reception.  Fortunately, Melissa had the great idea to take the bridal party to the SC State House for some photos in between!  We loved having the extra time for fun photos without worrying about rushing to the next place or keeping the guests waiting!  And the bridal party even had some time before the reception to go back to their hotel rooms and relax a little before introductions.

I started the wedding day with Melissa and her bridesmaids (and Ryan’s sweet dog) at her home.

Melissa’s mom and various family members helped make cookies for the desert bar.  One guest who couldn’t make it to the wedding even sent cookies in the mail to add to the collection.

Wedding toasts

After some very heartfelt toasts, Melissa and Ryan cut the cake.  Melissa was determined to share a piece of that cake with Ryan’s face.  It took a few tries but it worked.  And they’re both still all smiles afterwards!
