The O’Donnell House in Sumter is one of my new favorite venues!  I have a bit of an obsession with historical homes and this property is such a beautifully preserved gem.  Built in the 1840s, it was renovated to add the signature dramatic columns around 1900.  Although looking at photos, I imagined it on an open field in the country, this home is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Sumter (I even started second guessing my GPS until I pulled up to the subtle entrance way!)

With Chris & Kristin’s Engagement session, we added lots of personal details and the wedding was full of personality too!  I’ll highlight some of those as we walk through their wedding day story.

Groom Getting Ready

I love all of Chris’ snazzy details from the sunflower cufflinks, to the Starry Night socks, to his fancy shoes!

We did the first look on the front porch of the O’Donnell House.

Can you tell where the bride gets her great sense of humor?  That’s her Dad and Brother having fun below!

The ring warming was a new idea to me, but Kristin & Chris set the rings out for the guests to see at they arrived at the ceremony and some took a moment to say a little blessing over the rings.  Such a fun idea!

The ceremony was held outdoors in the gardens.

The cake topper was an adorable representation of the wedding proposal.  Chris planned a special proposal while they took a bike ride at the end of the Swamp Rabbit Trail in Travelers Rest, SC.

Since they love Calvin and Hobbes, they used cartoons to sign on as their guest book.

DJ

For the reception, they had both a DJ for a portion of the night as well as a Band.  The Black Iron Gathering wasn’t your typical wedding band, but they sounded AMAZING!  They rocked the house and had a great time doing it.

BaND

Since the bride and groom were beer aficionados, there was plenty of unique beers to go around as well as beer in the wedding toasting glasses.

Cake CUtting

We snuck outside just after sunset for a few cool night portraits in front of the columns and by the fountain.
