Liz and Daniel met in college but it was training for a marathon that brought them running back into each other lives (they also love puns, so I thought I’d throw in a cheesy one). The couple had been living in DC and Daniel planned a romantic Christmas proposal. Here’s how Liz tells the story-
After two and a half years of dating, on December 14, 2016, Daniel kept bugging me all day to go and take pictures after work in front of the Christmas tree located on the US Capitol grounds. We took pictures there together in 2015 and are trying to make it a tradition so I agreed to go and really thought nothing of it. It was absolutely FREEZING that night. My fingers and toes had gone completely numb but we still trekked out to that tree after work. It was so gorgeous and quiet outside. We awkwardly took a couple of selfies and I was looking around for another person to take a picture of the two of us and I turn around and before I know it Daniel is down on one knee, saying some words I don’t really remember, and asking me to spend the rest of my life with him. I said yes! Then a friend of ours who was there to covertly take pictures of us snapped a few with the ring and we went back home to celebrate and call our family and friends.
With the help of their families, friends and planner Sandra Godfrey of Family Affairs Events, Liz and Daniel planned the wedding long distance from Washington DC.
I started the wedding day with the very calm bride as she got her hair and makeup done at Cline Salon.
The first look allowed us to take some portraits of Liz and Daniel with their bridal party and families around the Senate’s End- 320 Senate grounds before the guests arrived.
After the ceremony, we just took a handful more photos of the bride and groom and then they joined their guests in the reception!
Out of all the great pink and gold themed wedding details, the gold dinosaur cake toppers was my personal favorite. Liz said she had made so many decisions for the wedding that she wanted Daniel to have something to have total control over so he picked out the cake topper. When he mentioned the gold dinosaurs he found on etsy, Liz’s Mom volunteered to make them herself. They turned out super cute and it was a fun and easy way to add some of their fun personalities into their wedding day!
