I don’t know how I get so lucky to have the sweetest, best couples to work with, but Kaitlyn and Alan are definitely such a joy to spend time with on their wedding day!  Kaitlyn and Alan were introduced through Alan’s sister-in-law Haley.  Kaitlyn recalls,

I worked with Haley at Red Lobster while we we’re both servers, she got married and left and I got promoted. We ran into each other years later and two weeks later Alan and I went on our first date. That was in July, in December I moved in with Alan and that November, on Thanksgiving, we got engaged. Alan was the first man I had ever taken back to my childhood home in Maryland to meet my parents and siblings, I’ll never forget my daddy saying, “Kate, don’t screw this up!”

Their relationship moved fast, but not too fast for Alan to plan an amazing proposal!

Alan planned it perfectly! We had talked about paying off some bills and starting to save for a wedding before we get engaged, but still went and looked at rings. We designed one together from Mosley’s in Lexington, little did I know that Alan took my sister, LeighAnn, to go see the ring right before he put the down payment on it. Thanksgiving is Alan’s favorite holiday little did I know it would become my favorite now. Thanksgiving was weird, Alan actually recommended a shirt for me to wear, and suggested I wear my favorite boots. We went to my grandparents in West Columbia before we went to his family’s celebration. Alan went back with my Grandpa to see something and apparently asked if he could ask for my hand in marriage in his home, Grandpa about died he was so excited, he then asked my Mamaw (grandmother) and she was elated as well. My cousin recorded the entire thing and all I could say the entire time was, “Are you serious? Are you dead serious right now!?” Apparently he was. I was so shocked, we called and facetime’d everyone we knew. It was so magical.

We started with Kaitlyn and Alan getting ready side-by-side (well, behind closed doors) at the Springdale House.  The whole place was abuzz with activity and you could tell the Kaitlyn’s family and friends were working really hard to make her day picture perfect!

It was an emotional moment when they brought over a family torah that Kaitlyn could carry down the aisle.

The receiving line is more of a Northern tradition but it’s a great opportunity for me to take some candid images as the bride and groom greet their guests after the wedding ceremony.

We snuck away for a few minutes after sundown to take some photos by the archway her family made and the front of the Springdale House at night.  They had also decorated the back porch with lights, so we did a few romantic photos there as well!
