I love hearing about the creative ways that grooms propose to their brides and Rob’s big moment really took some planning!  As Layne tells it-

Rob surprised me by planning a vacation for the two of us…a Caribbean cruise with stops in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, Grand Cayman Islands, and Cozumel, Mexico. I didn’t know where we were going until about a week before we left. We had traveled out of the country together before and talked about getting married but getting engaged wasn’t even on my radar.  In Jamaica we had decided on an excursion with 3 activities: riding a sky lift to the top of Mystic Mountain, then riding a bobsled roller coaster ride and catch the amazing view during a Jamaican lunch. Finally, we climbed Dunn’s River Fall. At the beginning of our climb, we started at on the beach and our group’s videographer had me go first behind the guide. Before we started Rob had stepped back to talk to the videographer, but I didn’t know he was planning anything. The videographer told me to give Rob a kiss before we began and then went down the line getting “before” shots of everyone in the group. We then climbed the falls, which was slippery and crowded but an awesome experience. The job of the videographer was to get shots of us along the way, so we stopped a few times and fell back into the water or slid down a rock. At one point, I was getting ready to continue up when I realized Rob wasn’t behind me and was being pulled into one of the pools along the falls by the videographer. The videographer waved our guide over and said come on, I told you…the guide appeared to be annoyed but then led me to where Rob already stood. The next thing I knew, Rob was getting down on his knee and asking me to marry him. I was stunned but I nodded my head and teared up a little, saying yes. I was on Cloud 9 for the rest of the climb but couldn’t stop grinning and shaking with fear of losing my ring.

And the joy of the proposal obviously carried it’s way over into our engagement session and on to the wedding day!  Layne and Rob’s wedding was held at Stone River and when I arrived that day, her friends and family were hard at work putting finishing touches on her purple toned wedding details.  I love all the greenery they added as well. It fits perfectly with the outdoorsy feel of the venue.

We did an impromptu first look with Layne’s Dad.  I love those natural reactions!

We didn’t do a first look with the groom but we did a…maybe I can call it, a first not-look.  He was blindfolded and Layne was able to hold his hand and have a quick moment with her husband to be before she walked down the aisle!  So sweet!

We had beautiful weather for their outdoor ceremony.  Since photographers love new toys, Dave Gilbert and I played with his new Lensball to get a unique view of the ceremony!

It was an amazing day!  I hope they have tons of fun on their Gatlinburg honeymoon accompanied their sweet dog, Jackson!  Congrats Layne & Rob!
