Sara and Varun first met working in the breast cancer research lab at USC.  They had a common love for science and Gamecock football! Fast forward a few years and you have a #fromthelabtothealter wedding!  Sara describes some of their special details here-

Our wedding is unique because of all of the nerdy aspects. We will be doing a chemical reaction as part of the ceremony, our cake is subtly decorated with DNA and chemical structures with small pieces of scientific glassware resting on each tier, our cake knife/server has a Harry Potter theme, our cake topper is a TARDIS with Dr. Who and a companion in a wedding dress, and our guestbook is a laboratory notebook.

These personalized touches make everything more fun!  The wedding was held at the River Road and Jasmine House.

Sara and Varun did a first look in the gardens.

My favorite part of the wedding ceremony itself was a chemical reaction that Sara and Varun performed together.  As Varun explains-

We used the two chemicals silver nitrate and potassium dichromate because when they mix they generate the garnet precipitate, the colour of the wedding. The significance was that individually these chemicals easily break down but when they combine they form Silver dichromate which is a stable compound. Each individual compound gives a little to form the new compound.

What a beautiful metaphor!

It was a cool evening but DJ Ronny Lane kept the party going!  Check out that holding-a-beer one handed bouquet catch.  Impressive!
