Amy and Henry share a common love for animals and I was so happy to hear that their adorable dog, Giggy, was stopping at the wedding for a short photo shoot with the happy couple!  But these two have more in common than just a love for furry friends. In Amy’s words,

Henry and I grew up in neighboring suburbs in Cleveland, Ohio, and we were born 16 days apart in the same hospital, same year!  We had some common friends growing up, but only met each other while working as ICU nurses in the same hospital in our thirties.
While we have the same interests in traveling, watching movies, and running or biking, we love to volunteer at the animal shelter together.  Since moving to Columbia, we have become foster parents to sick baby kittens that come into the City of Columbia Animal Services Shelter. We estimate having fostered around 30-40 kittens in total, and we just absolutely love it!  While we have a dog of our own, Giggy, we have “foster failed” three kittens we fostered (meaning that we were supposed to give them back to the shelter to be adopted, but ended up adopting them ourselves). It’s quite a full house but we find it so rewarding!  We even got our wedding planner to adopt one special kitten we fostered!

Their amazing wedding planner Joan Day and her team helped coordinate a perfect wedding day at 1208 Washington Place for Amy and Henry, including a breathtaking floral display by American Floral.  We started the day with Amy getting ready in the “fireplace” room at 1208.

The couple wanted to do a first look so they could get lots of photos done before the ceremony, so we took them out to the Terrace for a (mostly) private moment together.

This series with Giggy cracks me up!  She loves her people.

The ceremony was held just upstairs with cocktail hour following on the Terrace.

The flower arrangements that American Floral put together in the main room were gorgeous!

The guests danced the night away to the Big Time Band.

Congratulations Amy and Henry!
