Morgan & John’s love story starts the first semester as freshmen at USC Honors college when they lived on the same hall in the honors dorm.  They dated through college and one day during senior year…

After a really stressful week toward the end of our senior year at USC, he (John) took me to dinner at Yesterday’s and then took me to the USC honors dorm after dinner. His cover story for taking me to the dorm – we were “going to a party for his friend that lived there.” On the way upstairs to the “party”, in the dorm elevator, we ran into his friend who was supposedly having the party! He asked John why we were at the dorm…John laughed it off but the cover story was blown! We got upstairs to the floor that we had lived on as freshmen, and John had the hallway lined with red rose petals. He proposed in a common room that we hung out in when we lived in the dorm. Our friends were hiding in a room just across the hall and (to my surprise) all came pouring out after I said “Yes”

Awww!  Morgan & John planned their wedding at the Corley Mill House and Garden– which is one of my personal favorite Lexington wedding venues!  I love the way her bouquet by Lexington Florists looks against the classic furniture at the Corley Mill House.

Grey suits for the gentlemen were much cooler in the sun than black and it still looks very dapper!

The couple didn’t want to see each other before the wedding but we had a few sneaky options to get them in a photo together while keeping the mystery!

I asked Morgan what her biggest wedding splurge was and she said-
The venue. Corley Mill House was a splurge for us but it was exactly the type of atmosphere we wanted- Lots of Southern charm! It set the tone for the rest of the wedding details.
The House itself is gorgeous and just wait…the garden wedding is coming up next!

The ivy covered archway to the garden lets the bride make a dramatic entrance.

When I asked Morgan what she remembered most about the wedding day, she replied,

The entire day went by so quickly. I remember just as I was about to walk down the aisle, seeing that John had a huge smile on his face.

The aqua/teal short dresses and the grey suits were a perfect light, summery color combination.

The paddle wheel is one of my favorite spots at the Corley Mill House.  These two are so adorable together!

What was your favorite part about planning the wedding?
Putting together the details – like deciding on the menu/drinks, & finding a few cute personalized things on Etsy that helped tie everything together, like coozies for our guests and our “Mr. & Mrs. Huth” wedding topper.

What are some of your favorite wedding moments and memories?
One of our favorite memories was the best man’s speech. We also loved seeing our family tear up the dance floor..particularly John’s parents! One of my favorite sweet things was the photos we got before the ceremony of John and me – around the door from each other, and the balcony/doorstep photos.

As I usually like to do, we snuck away for a few photos of the wedding couple around the Corley Mill House grounds just after sunset.  I love the way the dusk sky looks blue in the photos.

When I asked the bride, is there anything you would have done differently, she replied,
Nothing – we had fun with the planning, and loved every second of the wedding day. Just wish that it hadn’t gone by so fast!

But what a beautiful day it was!  Congratulations Morgan & John!
